Privacy Policy
Awake Inc. (the "Company") handles personal information in Koyomiboshi (the "Service") appropriately in accordance with the following policy.
1. Information We Collect
The Service collects the following information to the extent necessary to provide readings.
- Your name (a nickname is acceptable) and its phonetic reading (furigana)
- The kanji of your family and given names (used only for name analysis; entry is optional and the Service can be used without it)
- Date of birth, time of birth and place of birth
- Area of residence (the city, ward, town or village selected for displaying weather forecasts)
- Blood type and personality type
- Email address (for account authentication and delivery of readings)
- Information relating to subscriptions and payments (contracted plan, subscription status, billing period, etc.; the Company does not retain card numbers)
- Records of guardian consent (date and time of consent and details of the application)
- Technical information such as usage status and access logs
2. Purposes of Use
The information collected is used only for the following purposes.
- Generating and delivering divination readings and daily fortunes
- Displaying weather forecasts for the registered area
- Authenticating and managing accounts, and providing subscriptions
- Age verification and recording and retaining guardian consent for paid plan applications by minors
- Responding to inquiries and sending important notices
- Improving the quality of the Service (statistical analysis that does not identify individuals)
3. Provision to Third Parties and Contractors
Except as required by laws and regulations, we do not provide personal information to third parties without the consent of the person concerned. To provide the Service, we entrust processing to the following external services.
- Google (Firebase):
authentication and data storage
- Stripe:
credit card payments (the Company does not retain card numbers)
- RevenueCat:
management of subscriptions purchased in the iOS app (App Store)
- Resend:
email delivery
- Cloudflare:
backup storage for recovery from failures (encrypted with our key; Cloudflare cannot read the contents)
- Providers of AI text generation services:
formatting of reading text (personal information such as real names is not sent)
Each is managed appropriately in accordance with the privacy policy of the relevant provider.
Purchases of paid plans in the iPhone app are processed by Apple Inc. through the App Store. The Company does not receive payment information such as credit card numbers.
Of the above contractors, Google (Firebase authentication), Stripe, RevenueCat, Resend, Cloudflare and the providers of AI text generation services are located outside Japan (in the United States), and personal information may be processed outside Japan. We take appropriate protective measures through contracts and other arrangements with the contractors.
When obtaining weather forecasts, communications with the Japan Meteorological Agency are made in units of areas such as forecast regions and observation points, and no information that identifies an individual, such as a name, email address or user ID, is sent.
4. Use of AI
The Service uses AI (large language models) to create reading text, but is designed not to send real-name information such as your name to the AI. The divination calculations are performed by the Company's divination engine and knowledge base, and the AI is used for the purpose of turning the results into readable text.
5. Retention and Security Management
Personal information is stored with appropriate security management measures to prevent unauthorized access, leakage, falsification and the like. The retention period is the period necessary to achieve the purposes of use, and information that is no longer needed is deleted appropriately. To recover from failures, we create an encrypted backup every day, and each backup is automatically deleted 7 days after it is created (data deleted upon account deletion may remain in backups created before that for up to 7 days).
6. Use of Cookies, etc.
The Service may use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your login status and to improve the Service. You can disable cookies through your browser settings, but some functions may then be unavailable. In addition, to understand how the Service is used, we use Web Analytics provided by Vercel Inc. (United States). It does not use cookies; information such as the URL of pages viewed, the referrer, the approximate region, and the type of device and browser is sent to Vercel's servers and is used only in aggregated form. According to materials published by Vercel, this data is not linked to individuals or IP addresses.
7. Requests for Disclosure, Correction and Deletion
We will respond without delay, in accordance with laws and regulations and after verifying identity, to requests from the person concerned for disclosure, correction, suspension of use or deletion of personal information. If you wish to delete your account, please apply for deletion from the account page or contact the inquiry desk below. After verifying your identity and confirming the cancellation of your contract, we will, in principle within 30 days of the application, delete your Firebase authentication information, profile and divination charts, reading results, daily fortunes, chat history and other per-user data, and will notify you at your registered email address upon completion. Backups taken before deletion as a safeguard against erroneous operation are kept for 30 days only, with restricted access, and are erased after that period. Payment records that must be retained under laws and regulations, records necessary for fraud prevention, and shared generated data that cannot identify individuals may be retained only to the extent and for the period necessary. Account deletion and subscription cancellation are separate procedures; if you have an active contract, you must complete the cancellation procedure before deleting your account.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may revise this Policy in response to changes in laws and regulations or in the content of the Service. Significant changes will be announced on the Service.
9. Personal Information of Minors
If a person under 18 years of age uses the Service, please register only after obtaining in advance the consent of a legal representative such as a person with parental authority. When an application for a paid plan is made, we will confirm whether the consent of a legal representative has been obtained, based on the registered date of birth.
